Parking and access
- Since late 2023 George Street has run one-way on weekday mornings and then shuts to traffic, bar deliveries and access, from 11am on Saturday through to 7am Monday. If your flat is over a shop on George Street or up toward the abbey, an off-peak slot won't help on a Saturday, so tell us and we'll plan an early arrival and carry kit in.
- The charter market fills St Peter's Street every Wednesday and Saturday, roughly 8.30am to 4.30pm, from Market Place up toward Catherine Street, and the centre is at its busiest and tightest on those mornings. For a job near the clock tower or French Row on a market day, expect us to walk the kit further or book a day clear of it.
- Close-in St Albans runs on controlled parking zones, and a permit is tied to one zone only, so it is no good a street over. Hours vary by zone and several have been extended (Zone F now runs Monday to Sunday, 8.30am to 10pm), so an off-peak slot rarely frees up kerb space. The Victorian terraces in Camp and Fleetville are parked solid through the day, while the larger houses and the newer estates usually have a driveway. Note your nearest loading point and any permit zone.
